School Project / Competition

There is a little bit of backstory to this project. We started the whole thing quite short on time with an idea that really didn't feel like us, and what we were used to, but we decided to still go with it. The concept was bad, really bad, but we didn't know that at the time.

The story was about this guy, living a rather solitary life, trying to find joy and happiness wherever he could to try and bring some light and warmth to his mundane existence, and we wanted to symbolise that though the colour grading. Starting off in black and white and gradually warming up as he felt surges of happiness

Once it was all shot, edited, colour graded, and we watched it a first time, the results were horrible. It was slow, boring, and quite hard to understand the purpose of the film. We realised that we had to do something else, because this was really not going to cut it.

With only hours left before the deadline we didn't have time to start from scratch and had to find a solution with what we had on our hands. We decided to completely twist the subject on its head, and explain, through self mockery, what happens when you leave a project to the last minute. Here's the result:

don't be shy.
